“The Supreme Price” Makes European Debut on Independence Day

She is the daughter of one of Nigeria’s Icons and her story is the subject of the critically acclaimed new documentary “The Supreme Price.”

The documentary that has been selected to screen in major festivals across the globe will screen at the 2014 edition of the Raindance Film Festival in London.

Directed by Joanna Lipper, The Supreme Price is a feature length documentary film that traces the evolution of the Pro-Democracy Movement in Nigeria and efforts to increase the participation of women in leadership roles. Following the annulment of her father’s victory in Nigeria’s Presidential Election and her mother’s assassination by agents of the military dictatorship, Hafsat Abiola faces the challenge of transforming a corrupt culture of governance into a democracy capable of serving Nigeria’s most marginalized population: women.

The film is the recipient of the Gucci Tribeca Spotlighting Women Documentary Award and will be screened at the Africa International Film Festival in Calabar.
