Nigeria’s biggest chain of cinemas – Filmhouse hosted the launch for their new transaction video on demand (TVOD) platform, MyFilmhouse at Filmhouse Cinema, Lekki, Lagos on Wednesday, 20 September 2017. The event which was witnessed by Nollywood actors, producers, members of the press and other stakeholders also had in attendance comedian AY, who was unveiled as the brand ambassador for the App.
MyFilmhouse is a Transactional Video on Demand movie platform designed and built exclusively for Nigeria. The platform offers hundreds of Hollywood and (…soon) Nollywood movies. The platform is structured to distribute movies immediately after their cinema run, allowing users to enjoy premium content on their devices where they may have missed the cinema run.
This is a welcome development for film lovers with busy schedules who are unable to watch all desired films in the cinema. Signing up is free and MyFilmhouse offers full-length feature films starting at 199 NGN. It also offers a different free movie every week to its users – meaning that each user is able to get 52 free movies, every year. In addition, Filmhouse Cinemas is offering WiFi hotspots at its Lekki and Surulere locations to enable users of MyFilmhouse download content with ease upon purchase. The Cinema chain plans to roll out WiFi hotspots to the rest of the Filmhouse cinemas within the next 60 days.
“MyFilmhouse turns every mobile device to a mini-theatre… we can’t wait to work with local content providers to bring our unique stories to the connected Nigerians and the rest of the world” said Okoronkwo Kanno, Operations Manager, MyFilmhouse.
MyFilmhouse app is available for download on both Android and iOS devices. After downloading the app, visit https://myfilmhouse.ng/ to sign up and enjoy the catalogue of films available for rent and purchase.
